Women’s Tennis Plays Two In-State Opponents this Weekend

Mercer plays Georgia State and Kennesaw State this weekend
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team returns to the court this weekend when they travel to Atlanta and Kennesaw to face in-state opponents, Georgia State and Kennesaw State in non-conference matchups.

Scouting the Panthers
Georgia State enters this weekend with the Bears with a 2-8 overall record and has dropped their last three matchups. The last win for the Panthers came on Feb. 26 when they defeated the College of Charleston, 4-3.
As a team, the Panthers are 16-for-40 in single matches. Eva Chivu is the Panthers top player and is 1-8 in singles play at the No. 1 position. Andreea Stanescu leads the team with five wins. She has won in No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles. Stanescu dropped the first three matches before winning her last five.
In doubles play, the Panthers are 9-for-17 this spring. Georgia State has played two teams at No. 1 doubles, with it being the team of Eva Chivu and Andreea Stanescu or Chivu and Maddy Frediani. The Panthers have two doubles teams with a team-high three wins this season.
Scouting the Owls
Kennesaw State enters the weekend with a record of 4-6. They are coming off a 5-2 loss to Charlotte on Thursday. The loss snapped a two-match winning streak. The Owls are 3-0 when playing at Betty Siegel Courts.
Kennesaw State is 19-for-28 as a team in singles this season. They are led in wins by Ji Youn Lee, who has seven on the season. She has won in No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles. Taylor Dean, who is the top player on the team, has four wins while playing No. 1 singles.
In doubles play, the Owls are 4-16 in duals this season. Taylor Dean and Valentina Taddia and the team of Paola Cortez and Ji Youn Lee have two wins in doubles and have won their last match.
