Women’s Tennis Falls to Kennesaw State

Bears were defeated by Kennesaw State, 5-2
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team was defeated by Kennesaw State, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon
In doubles, the Owls took the first match of the day when they won in the second flight, 6-1. Both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles were tight and back and forth. No. 3 doubles was the next finished when Kennesaw State won 7-5. No. 1 doubles went unfinished and the match tied at six.
Kennesaw State increased its lead to 3-0 early in singles play. The Owls took match No. 5, 6-2, 6-0 and No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 to increase the lead.
Mercer closed the gap by winning the next two matches. In No. 4 singles, Lauren Rich defeated Valentine Taddia, 6-3, 6-1, for the first match win of the day for Mercer. The Owls lead was down to 3-2, after another Bear win. Mary Courville won in the third flight over Paola Cortez, 6-3, 6-2.
However, Mercer could not get another win as the Owls took the final two singles matches and defeated Mercer 5-2.
