Women’s Tennis Opens SoCon Play At ETSU

Mercer travels to Johnson City, Tenn. to open SoCon Play
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team returns to the court on Wednesday, when they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to face ETSU in Southern Conference action. This will be the Bears first conference match of the season.

Scouting the Bucs
ETSU enters the Southern Conference opener against the Bears with a 5-7 record. The last time the Bucs took to the court was on March 4 when they defeated Tusculum, 6-1, in Johnson City. ETSU is a perfect 2-0 at home.
In single action, the Bucs have three players with six wins on the season. Emilia Alfaro, Maria Carvajal and Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga all have six wins. Laylo Bakhodirova has played every match as the No. 1 singles player and is 4-7. As a team, ETSU is 30-36 in singles play.
The Bucs have had two teams play No. 1 doubles this season. Mayya Gorbunova and Alejandra Morales are 4-7 in No. 1 doubles while Alfaro and Bakhodirova are 0-1. Alfaro and Bakhodirova have played nine matches as the No. 2 doubles team. ETSU is 14-18 on the season as a team in doubles play.
