Mercer looks for first regular season win against Furman
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team looks to continue their quest for the Southern Conference regular season crown when they welcome conference rivals, the Furman Paladins, to Five Star Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the eighth meeting between the Bears and Paladins. The Paladins have won all five regular season matchups. The Bears two wins against the Paladins comes from the 2018 and 2019 Southern Conference Championship game.

ABOUT THE BEARS
The Bears are coming off a 20-19 overtime win against Kennesaw State on Tuesday. Maddi Koury scored her first career game-winning goal at Kennesaw State on Tuesday. Her goal came one minute into the first overtime. Shannon Urey earned the assist. Hailey Rhatigan scored a season high seven goals against the Owls. The last time she scored 5+ goals was in 2020 against Gardner-Webb. Kathryn Vanderlinde saw the majority of the game between the pipes. She earned her first win of the season stopping eight balls and snagging five. Her five groundballs set a new career high for the sophomore. Redshirt-sophomore Kileigh Casey caused a career high four turnovers in the game. Erin Degnan won six draw controls against the Owls. Her season total is now 24, the most for the Black and Orange. With the 20-19 overtime win against Kennesaw State, the Bears improve their overall record with the Owls to 5-1.

SCOUTING FURMAN Â
Furman is coming off a 16-14 win over Kennesaw State on Friday afternoon. Hannah Dintino and Sydney McClure led the Paladins with four goals on the game. McClure had a career high six points in the game. Avery McIlwaine and Megan Beal scored two goals, while Krya LaMotte, Hanna Demis, Sophie Shaw, and Lindsey Kelly scored one. Hannah Demis led with three groundballs. Sydney Catts won a team high four draw controls. Megan Deehan saw all 60 minutes in the pipes for the Paladins. She allowed 14 goals and saved 11. Rachel Whitten is in her seventh season at the helm of the Paladins.

The Bears will stay home and welcome Kennesaw State for a rematch on April 24. Mercer will honor the 2021 senior class prior to the game. Â
