Bears Headed to Nashville for Regular Season Finale

Mercer and Belmont are fighting for a berth in the SoCon Tournament
Macon, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team will square off against Belmont in its regular season finale on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. (ET).
This is a massively important game for the Bears as a win will secure their place in the Southern Conference Tournament.

Series History | Last Meeting
Mercer owns an all-time record of 10-6-1 versus Belmont. The last meeting between the Bears and the Bruins was on October 31st, 2019 which saw Mercer defeat Belmont 2-0 at home in Macon. The goals came at either side of the half, with the first goal of the match scored by Ousman Jabang late in the first half off of a well taken volley. The goal to seal the game was early in the second half and came in the form of an own goal by Belmont.

Scouting the Bruins
Belmont is 5-2-2 this season having played solely in the spring. Goal production has not been an issue for the Bruins with eight different players having at least one goal to their name. Attackers to keep an eye on are junior forward Liam O'Brien and freshman midfielder AJ Chastonay. O'Brien has tallied eight points this season courtesy of three goals and two assists, including two goals against Lipscomb and had a goal and an assist versus Bellarmine. He got his second assist of the season in a 2-1 win at Trevecca Nazarene. Chastonay leads the team in points with four goals and one assist this season. The freshman scored a brace versus Bellarmine, recorded a goal and assist against VMI, and picked up the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Wofford.
The Bruins have played two goalies this season, senior Drew Romig and junior Cameron Petty. Romig has played in six games this season for the Bruins, picking up three shutouts. Petty has played just over 300 minutes this season while totaling two shutouts for the Bruins.
