Allie Jones was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 First Team for the second year in a row
MACON, Ga. – Recent Mercer softball graduate Allie Jones was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Four First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Jones graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while double-majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Calhoun, Ga., native, who garnered Academic All-America Third Team honors last season, is the first Mercer softball player to earn back-to-back academic all-district honors since 2016 when Natalie Shiver earned her second consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-America honor.
She was one of four players from the Southern Conference to be recognized, along with UNCG's Jasmine Palmer, Makenna Matthijs and Kayleigh Willis. Additionally, Jones was the only player from the state of Georgia to land on the academic all-district team.
Jones hit .306 during her senior campaign, going 44-for-144 at the plate while posting team highs with four home runs and 20 stolen bases. She added six doubles and two triples in 2021 while racking up 26 runs and 18 RBI. The Bears' centerfielder garnered her second career postseason honor from the Southern Conference as a senior by being named to the All-SoCon Second Team.
Jones boasts a career .308 batting average with 153 hits, including 28 doubles, seven triples and five home runs. She has scored 89 runs while driving in 77 and stole 50-of-57 bases. Jones has started each of Mercer's 130 games over the past three seasons.
In addition to her accomplishments on the field, Jones was awarded the prestigious Dorothy Hicks Scholarship and will attend medical school in the fall with hopes of becoming a physician.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from July 26-29.
