Fall Season Concludes Sunday

Spartanburg, S.C. –It was an exceptional start for the Mercer women's tennis team at the Wofford Invite on Saturday. All six players won their first round matches in singles play and two of the three doubles combinations also won.

The Bears are one of seven teams participating in the tournament. There are no team scores being kept, but competitors from Wofford, Western Carolina, Radford, Queens, Gardner-Webb, and UNC-Asheville are playing.

Mercer's Mary Weston Courville, Eden Schlagenhauf, Camilla Ciaccia, Marina De Diego Quinones, Lekha Varudandi, and Kristin Yordanova all won their quarterfinal matches in their respective draws. The Bears Teodora Ristic had to withdraw from the tournament due to illness.

Schlagenhauf, De Diego Quinones, and Varudandi won their semi-final matches to advance to Sunday's finals.

In doubles competition, Schlagenhauf and Ciaccia won their first match, as did De Diego Quionones and Yordanova. Doubles competition will have its semi finals and finals on Sunday.
