Mercer Narrowly Drops Match at Kennesaw State

4-3 score falls in favor of KSU
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program (0-1, 0-0) fell just short against Kennesaw State (1-0, 0-0) as the Owls won 4-3 on Monday afternoon.
The Bears started strong after Mary Weston Courville/Teodora Ristic and Kristin Yordanova/Marina de Diego Quinones each won their respective doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Courville/Ristic won 7-5 on court one while Yordanova/de Diego Quinones won commandingly 6-2 on court three.
The success continued for de Diego Quinones as she earned the first singles point for Mercer, defeating Izabelle Perrson 6-4, 6-1 on court five. On court one, Ristic won the other singles point for the Bears with a three-set victory over Ji Lee. After dropping the first set, Ristic battled back to take the final two.
Courville also went to three sets, but ultimately fell to Taylor Dean on court two. With the score tied 3-3, the deciding point was determined on court four between Camilla Ciaccia and Sofia Pinedo. Ciaccia won the second set 6-2 to force a third set. The final set landed 7-5 in favor of Pinedo, resulting in a KSU victory.
UP NEXT: Mercer heads south for a matchup with Florida State on Sunday, January 22.
