
Three Men's Soccer Players Named To Academic All-District Team

Liam Coxhead, Michael Ille, and Nick Wanzer earned recognition
Macon, Ga. - Mercer men's soccer student-athletes Liam Coxhead, Michael Ille, and Nick Wanzer were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Liam Coxhead played in 17 games this season and started the final seven for the Bears. The midfielder from Peachtree Corners, Georgia had one assist this season which came in a win versus VMI in October. Coxhead is an Industrial Engineering and engineering management major.
Michael Ille, a graduate student played in 18 games while starting 10 this season. The midfielder from Lawrenceville, Georgia scored seven goals and added two assists. He had a hat trick in the Bears' 3-2 win over ETSU in the regular season finale. Ille's goal versus VMI helped Mercer secure its first win of the SoCon Tournament this season. Ille is currently a Master of Business Administration Student.
Nick Wanzer started all 19 games for Mercer this year. The Frisco, Texas midfielder added one goal and one assist this season. Wanzer's goal came in the regular season against VMI and his assist came against NC State. Wanzer was also selected as a member of the 2022 SoCon Men's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team. Wanzer is currently a Junior, marketing major.
To qualify for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, each of these students was required to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA while playing in a majority of the team's games. Voting for the Academic All-America begins today and closes next Tuesday at 11:59 pm.
