Mercer Drops Tournament Closer Against Towson

Mercer returns home on Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m. against Kennesaw State
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Mercer men's basketball program closed out the Hostilo Hoops Community Classic in Savannah, Georgia, with a loss to Towson, 70-60 on Sunday evening. The Bears finished the tournament 2-1.
The game started with the teams alternating leads, mostly maintaining a one possession game. Both teams had seven point runs in the first half, but the difference was only one point in favor of Towson at halftime.
Towson outscored Mercer 11-5 for the first eight minutes of the second half, until the Bears battled back to take a one-point lead. The lead did not last as the Tigers led by double-digits for most of the final six minutes. The game ended 70-60, in favor of Towson.
Luis Hurtado Jr. returned to his assisting ways, logging seven assists against the Tigers. The Bears once again recorded more assists than the opposing team, finishing 15-14.
Three players scored in double figures as Jalyn McCreary led this trio with 14 points followed by Kamar Robertson (12) and Michael Zanoni (11).
