Bears head west to face Utah in Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – To close out the nonconference portion of the campaign, Mercer will take its longest trip of the season to meet the Utah Utes in Salt Lake City on Saturday. Â

Series History
This will be third meeting between the Bears and Utes, and it's been split at a win apiece. The last time they played, Sean Goldsmith found the back of the net six times and assisted on another to lead Mercer to the 15-10 win over Utah in Macon last March. Utah is 1-0 when played in Salt Lake City, with their 13-9 win in February 2019.
Scouting Mercer
Mercer is looking to snap a two-game skid following setbacks to Wagner and Air Force. The Bears are led offensively by Goldsmith, who has tallied 27 points this season on 21 goals and six assists. Garrett Leclaire leads the Orange & Black with 13 caused turnovers and is followed by Wesley Chairs, who has 10. In the cage, Colin Kelley has logged 110 saves in more than 514 minutes between the pipes. His .505 save percentage places him 39th nationally in the stat.
The Bears have successfully cleared the ball almost 89% (.885) of the time, which ranks 12th in Division I.
Scouting Utah
The Utes are also looking to break a two-game losing streak and this will also be their second home game of the season. In their last time out, they fell to fifth-ranked Georgetown by a 16-6 margin in D.C. Offensively, Utah is led by Tyler Bradbury and Jordan Hyde, who have notched 21 and 19 points, respectively. Samuel Cambere is leading the Utes in caused turnovers with 13 on the season. Zion Dechesere has clocked 300 minutes in the cage and has 43 shots through five games, while Zack Johns stopped 12 in the other game in net.
Utah's 93.7% clearing rate tops the country and went a perfect 16-for-16 in their matchup with SoCon foe, Jacksonville. The Utes are currently receiving votes in the IL and USILA polls.
