The Bears are 2-8-1 against the Blazers in a series that dates back to 2000. UAB won the most recent match-up, 1-0 on Feb. 28, 2021 in Birmingham. Mercer's last win in the series was a 3-2 triumph in Birmingham on Sept. 6, 2019.

The Blazers won their first two games, and have dropped four in a row. However, some of those losses have come against some of the top ranked teams in the country—2-0 to no. 5 Wake Forest; 2-0 to no. 1 Clemson; and 3-0 to no. 18 Charlotte. UAB has scored only five goals with Brooks Rice, and Nathaniel St. Louis scoring two each. St. Louis has both of the Blazers game winning goals.
