Marceau Foulihoux claimed singles win on court six
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Mercer men's tennis program (0-1, 0-0) fell in its season opener, 6-1, at Alabama (2-0, 0-0) on Saturday evening. Marceau Foulihoux won the lone point for the Bears with a singles win on court six. The sophomore downed Joao Ferreira in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Alabama claimed the doubles point with victories on courts two and three to take an early lead. The Tide grabbed the second point of the day when Lucas Dini had to retire in the first set on court two.
Nemanja Stefanovic won the first set on court three, 6-1, against Roan Jones, the No. 96th-ranked player in the country, but could not keep the momentum going in the final two sets. Andrew Branicki forced the first set to a tiebreak but ultimately fell 7-6, 6-1.
