Â
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford's season has some parallels to that of the Bears as the Terriers currently sit at 8-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Wofford has struggled on the road, going only 1-5 away from home. Both conference games so far for the Terriers were close matchups, but Wofford came up short.
Within the last month, Wofford underwent a coaching change as head coach Jay McAuley took a leave of absence from the program and subsequently resigned. Former associate head coach Dwight Perry assumed the role of interim head coach in his 4th season with the Terriers.
Freshman Jackson Paveletzke has become a breakout star for Wofford, winning SoCon Player of the Week after his performance in the win over Texas A&M. He averages 15.5 PPG alongside B.J. Mack who averages 16.1 PPG.
RECENT ACTION
Mercer dropped a second consecutive conference game to Chattanooga, 80-51, on Saturday at home. The Bears struggled to find an offensive rhythm while Chattanooga fueled its momentum with excellent three-point shooting.
Jalyn McCreary earned the first double-double of his career with 19 points and 15 rebounds which well-surpassed his previous record of nine rebounds. He became the first Mercer player to post 15 points and 15 rebounds since December 2019 and the first with 15 rebounds since December 2020.
Center Shannon Grant made his first start of the season against the Mocs after returning from injury against Samford last week. He recorded 10 points and five rebounds on Saturday.
