Men’s Soccer Set to Play UNCG in SoCon Quarterfinals

MACON, GA. –The Mercer Men's soccer team will travel to Johnson City, Tennessee to battle UNCG in Summer-Taylor Stadium on November 3 at 3 p.m. EST.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
This will be the 23rd meeting between these two programs. Mercer is currently 6-13-3 against UNCG. The last time these two programs met was on October 21, 2023, when the Bears tied the Spartans 1-1 at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.

LAST TIME OUT
Mercer moves to 5-5-7 on the season and 1-2-2 in Southern Conference play. ETSU would strike first with a header in the 15th minute. The Bears continued to battle up until the halftime whistle. The Bears would come out in the second half attacking the Buc's defense hard. Mercer would find the back of the net off the head of Sekou Agard. Omar Hernandez and Rayvon McGann would assist Agard in equalizing the game. However, ETSU would find the back of the net off a corner kick with three seconds remaining in the match.

Last season UNCG finished 14-3-1 and went 8-1-0 in the Southern Conference play.

Throughout fourteen games this season, the Spartans are 2-9-5 and 1-2-2 in Southern Conference play. The Spartans are coming off a 6-2 draw against VMI on Saturday, October 28. Before the Spartans found a win against VMI, UNCG drew Mercer and Wofford 1-1. Prior to the start of the 2023 season, the Spartans were ranked No. 7 on College Soccer News Preseason Top 30 Polls.
