
Mercer to Host Georgia College on Wednesday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team is set to play Georgia College on Wednesday, February 22 at 3 p.m. at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center. Â

RECENT ACTIONÂ
The Bears traveled to Fort Myers, Florida over the weekend where FGCU claimed 6-1 wins on both Friday and Saturday. Kristin Yordanova competed in the sixth singles slot and played a hard-fought, three set match. She fell short in the first set, 6-3, but came back strong in the second with a 6-4 win and won the third set 10-point tiebreak, 10-6, to secure her victory. On Saturday Eden Schlagenhauf and Camilla Ciaccia won on court two in doubles, but it was not enough to get the doubles point. The only point of the day came from Teodora Ristic as she won in two sets 6-4, 6-3 in the second singles slot. Â

SCOUTING GEORGIA COLLEGEÂ
The Bobcats have handedly beat all four opponents so far this season with the closest game being 5-2 against both Valdosta State and Newberry. GCSU defeated Emmanuel 6-1 in the season opener earlier this month and swept Clark Atlanta 7-0 last week. Â

In the 2022 season, Sofia Shing was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Second Team as a freshman. So far this season, Shing has occupied the first singles slot and third doubles slot alongside Shradha Chhabra and has remained undefeated in both. Chhabra has gone 2-2 in singles play, losing to Newberry and Valdosta State. Chiara Santoro has also remained undefeated in singles play and 3-1 in doubles with Emma Fleming. Fleming and Jada Young and have both gone 3-0 in singles matches so far.Â
