
Bears Fall to No. 3 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program (6-6) fell to No. 3 Georgia (11-3), 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The 26th-ranked doubles pair of Guillermina Grant/Mai Nirundorn took the match on court one over Mary Weston Courville/Teodora Ristic, and Anastasiia Lopata/Dasha Vidmanova won the doubles point for Georgia with a win over Kristin Yordanova/Marina de Diego Quinones on court three. Eden Schlagenhauf/Camilla Ciaccia were down 5-2 against No. 39 Mell Reasco/Meg Kowalski when the other courts finished.
Courville played a competitive match on court two against Vidmanova, the 12th-ranked singles player in the country, sending the match to three sets. Courville won the first set 6-4 but dropped the second set and fell in the 10-point tiebreak to decide the winner.
Ristic challenged the No. 10 singles player in the nation, Lea Ma, on court one, nearly taking the first set but falling 7-5, 6-1. Mercer's players on courts three, four, and five also played against ranked singles players from the Bulldogs.
UP NEXT: Mercer begins Southern Conference play this weekend with two matches. The Bears will face Chattanooga on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. Mercer will take on Western Carolina on Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at TBD.
