
Mercer Drops Match at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer men's tennis program (7-11, 1-1) dropped a close conference match to Chattanooga (13-4, 3-0), 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center.

Chattanooga won all three doubles courts to take the lead. The Mocs increased the lead to 3-0 with wins on courts one and three.

Marceau Foulihoux won the first point for the Bears with a 7-6, 6-3 win on court four over Peyton Gatti. This was Foulihoux's 13th singles win of the season and fourth-straight, leading the team and ranking second in the Southern Conference.

The Mocs clinched the match with a win on court three, but the teams played out the remaining matches. After winning the first set but dropping the second, Lucas Dini was tied 2-2 in a third set with Simon Labbe when Labbe was forced to retire due to injury, handing the point to Dini.

Samuel Barrow played an incredibly competitive match on court six to claim the third point for Mercer. Barrow won the first set 7-5 but fell in a tiebreak in the second set 7-6, forcing a 10-point tiebreak to decide the third set. Barrow won the tiebreak 11-9 to win his seventh singles match of the season.
