SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will be the fourth all-time meeting between Mercer and Longwood. Longwood leads the series 2-1.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer women's lacrosse scored 15 goals in the first half for the second consecutive game and cruised to dominant 20-7 win over Winthrop on Wednesday afternoon from Five Star Stadium.
With the win, the Bears move to 3-0 in conference play and have scored at least 20 goals while conceding less than 10 in all three of the wins.
Mercer outshot Winthrop 36-14 including a 29-13 shots on goal advantage. Mercer once again owned the draw control battle with a 20-8 edge over the Eagles in that department.
Shannon Urey was one of 11 different Mercer goal scorers on the day. Urey led the Bears with four goals, surpassing her previous season-high of 44 goals as she now leads the Big south with 47 goals on the year.Â
Erin Degnan had three goals and one assist for a 4-point afternoon. She also added four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Kayla Soltys led Mercer with six draw controls and scored a goal, her third consecutive game with a goal.
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
Longwood enters Saturday's game 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Big South play. The Lancers were picked to finish tied for eighth by the coaches in the preseason poll.
Longwood's last two games have gone to overtime including a double overtime game last Wednesday in an 18-17 loss to Wofford.
The Lancers are fourth in the Big South in goals per game at 9.64 per game. They are allowing 15.64 goals per game. Longwood averages 19.00 shots on goal per game, fourth most in the conference.
Longwood's leading goal scorer is attacker Riley McDonald who has 21 goals in nine games played. She also leads the team with 32 points followed closely by Emily Kate Smith who has 30 points (12G, 18A).
The Lancer's starting goalie, Amelia Carlile owns a 16.11 goals against average and a .404 save percentage.
