
Woods and Hickok Named to Academic All-District Team

MACON, Ga. – Mercer softball outfielder Alyssa Woods and pitcher Riley Hickok were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
The organization aims to recognize the very best student-athletes in the nation, honoring both athletic accomplishments and academic accomplishments. All nominees must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and be a starter or key reserve player on his or her respective team.
Hickok is from Warner Robins, Georgia, and joined the bears in 2019. She appeared in 17 games this season with five starts. Before her senior season, she appeared in 27 games with 17 starts. In 2021 she was awarded the Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal and was on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. After graduating with a 3.823 GPA, Riley plans on working at an internal audit and finical advisory department, Protiviti, in Tampa, Florida.
Woods appeared in 44 games this season with 43 starts. The Houston, Texas, native retained a .978 fielding percentage. Woods also recorded eight RBIs and 11 runs. In the 2021 season, she was awarded the Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal and placed on the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. She is currently majoring in kinesiology with a 3.766 GPA.
