
Four Players Named to All-SoCon Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer softball program had four players earn All-Southern Conference honors, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. Rebeca Laudino and Kylie Helm earned All-Southern Conference Second Team honors while Avery Barton and Grace Taylor were named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.
Laudino led the Bears with a .337 batting average and ranked second in the league in hits with 59. She recorded 17 multi-hit games, featuring a team-high four-hit performance against Georgia State. Her 15 stolen bases ranked third in the conference. Laudino secured the second SoCon postseason honor of her career after being named to the 2022 All-SoCon First Team.
Helm tied for the team-lead in extra base hits with nine home runs and a team-best eight doubles. She was one of two players to hit two home runs in a single game for the Bears with a pair against regular-season champions, UNCG. Helm notched the second-most RBI for Mercer with 28 this season. This is the first All-SoCon postseason honor of Helm's career.
Barton earned her first collegiate hit in the second game of the season against Hampton with a double. She went on to log three home runs in five games in March on her way to four total this spring. Barton also hit one of Mercer's two triples this year. She posted a perfect 4-for-4 stolen base mark.
As a freshman, Taylor pitched the most innings in the Southern Conference with 176.2 through a league-leading 41 appearances and 26 starts. She struck out 23 batters looking which ranked fourth in the league. Her 11 wins are just one shy of the conference lead and the most for a Mercer pitcher since 2019. Taylor threw 13 complete games and earned two shutouts and two saves.
