Vigna joins Mercer from Florida Southwestern
Macon, Ga. - Mercer softball is excited to announce the signing of junior college All-American Laura Vigna.
Vigna joins the Bears after two years at junior college program Florida SouthWestern. She will play for former Florida Southwestern All-American and current Bears assistant coach Courtney Gettins.
Vigna brings a wealth of experience along with her to Mercer as she was not only a two-time National Champion during her time with FSW, but also an Olympian in the 2020 Tokyo Games. She was a .401 career hitter with the Bucs, accounting for 185 runs in her two seasons, scoring 104 and driving in another 81. As a freshman in 2022 she hit .454 and ripped 24 doubles which broke the FSW single season record, while driving in 50 and stealing 23 bases to earn NJCAA All-American honors. In her two seasons with the Bucs, Vigna helped lead FSW to a 110-11 overall record, a Suncoast Conference Championship, a Southern Conference Championship, an FCSAA State Championship, and two NJCAA National Championships. Â
Vigna will join a Mercer squad coming off of a 20-37 campaign that saw them go 8-10 in SoCon action before finishing 3rd at the SoCon Tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Vigna will give the Bears a Buc on their roster for the third straight season after former FSW All-American Rebeca Laudino was an All-Conference performer in the Orange and Black the past two seasons.Â
