Men’s Soccer Travels to Georgia Southern

MACON, Ga. –The Mercer Men's soccer team will travel to Statesboro, Georgia on Tuesday, September 18 to battle Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. ET at Eagle Field at Erik Park.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
This will be the 55th meeting between Mercer and Georgia Southern spanning back to the 1980's. Mercer is currently leading the series 30-24 against Georgia Southern. The Bears won the last match-up against Georgia Southern 1-0 on September 27, 2022.

LAST TIME OUT
Mercer moves to 4-1-2 on the season, while Winthrop moves to 1-4-0 on the season. Freshman forward Barzee Blama would find an open Carlos Santamaria who would find the back of the net in the 4th minute of the game. In the 16th minute Omar Hernandez would find the top left corner of the net off a 30–35-yard shot. The Bears would find the back of the net one more time in the first half off the foot of forward Barzee Blama. Mercer's Tommy Reid would find the back of the net for the final goal of the game, give the Bears a 4-0 win and the victory.

SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN
Last season Georgia Southern finished 1-14-1 and went 0-8 in the Sun Belt Conference play.

Throughout six games this season, the Eagles are 1-3-2 coming off a 0-0 draw against Coastal Carolina. The Eagles have played many tough opponents and secured their first home win with a 2-0 win against the University of Asheville. Georgia Southern were selected to finish tenth in a 10 team Sun Belt Conference.
