
Mercer Starts Season With Sweep Over ABAC

MACON, Ga. - Mariella Minetti earned a hard fought 6-4 second set win on top of a 6-0 first set win in Mercer's last match of the day as the Bears earned a resounding 7-0 win over visiting Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
ABAC was able to win just six games across four singles and two doubles courts on the day. The Bears started the day off with doubles as Teodora Ristic and Marina de Diego Quinones defeated ABAC's Kitti Nemeth and Victoria Vendrell, 6-0. On the other doubles court, Mercer's Lea Falentin and Emilia Cosatto also won 6-0 as they defeated ABAC's Emily Macri and Kylie Childers.
Singles matches followed and Mercer's Tea Zivic got things started for the Bears as she earned a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over ABAC's Kylie Childers. Teodora Ristic rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win in her singles match over ABAC's Kitti Nemeth.
On the third singles court, Emilia Cosatto played a great first set against ABAC's Emily Macri winning 6-0 and didn't have let Macri get much going in the second set either, winning the set 6-2.
Minetti would complete the sweep for the Bears with her 6-0, 6-4 win over ABAC's Victoria Vendrell.
Next up for the Bears is a trip down to Florida where the Bears will play at Bethune-Cookman on Friday, Feb. 2 in Daytona Beach.
