Women's Tennis In Florida This Weekend To Play Bethune-Cookman and Stetson

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's tennis team will take to the road for the first time this season as the Bears travel to Daytona Beach, Florida to play Bethune-Cookman on Friday at 10 a.m., followed by playing at Stetson in DeLand, Florida on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Mercer (1-0) is fresh off a sweep of Abraham Baldwin on Sunday at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center. Mariella Minetti earned a hard fought 6-4 second set win on top of a 6-0 first set win in Mercer's last match of the day as the Bears earned a resounding 7-0 win over ABAC. It was a strong start to the season for the Bears as ABAC was able to win just six games across four singles and two doubles courts on the day.

Bethune-Cookman is 0-3 so far this season and lost at home to fellow SoCon rival Wofford on Thursday, 7-0. Stetson is 1-2 on the season with its lone win coming against Bethune-Cookman on January 24 where they defeated the Wildcats 7-0.

Mercer and Bethune-Cookman have only met once before back in 2016 where the Bears won 5-2. Mercer and Stetson will meet for the 12th time on Saturday. Stetson leads the all-time series 10-1.
