Raath Cards Round of 72, Bears In Seventh At The Ally

WEST POINT, Miss. - Analiese Raath carded a first round of even par, 72 and the Mercer women's golf teams sits in seventh place in the 16 team field at The Ally from Old Waverly Golf Club following the first round on Monday.
As a team, Mercer had a round of 10-over, 298Â and is 20 shots back the current leader, 11th-ranked Vanderbilt who carded a first round of 10-under, 278.
Raath - playing as an individual - had a steady round playing 16 of her 18 holes at par or better including three birdies. It was Raath's lowest round as a Bear in her first year at Mercer. Ella Mäki-Tanila also had a good round finishing with a 1-over, 73 on the day.
Mercer played the par 3's well on the day as the Bears went 1-over on them which was the third best score as a team in the field on the par 3's. The Bears had 17 birdies on Monday led by Katie Scheck who had five birdies in her round. Three of Scheck's five birdies came on par 5's where she was 3-under on the day which was tied for the third best score on them in the 90 player field. Mercer's 17 birdies were third most in the field.
The second round for Mercer begins on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET / 9:30 CT.
