Marie Bannmeyer Wins Draw At Wofford Invite To Conclude Fall Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Freshman Marie Bannmeyer went 3-0 in singles matches and won her draw at the Wofford Invite from Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Bannmeyer didn't drop a set as she first defeated Mary Ellen Longmire from Presbyterian on Friday, 6-0, 6-1. Then, in the semifinals on Saturday defeated Wofford's Sorensen, 7-6 (5), 6-3. The championship match on Sunday in her flight was against Kennesaw State's Laura Nadaska who Bannmeyer beat, 6-4, 6-3.
In doubles play, Emilia Cosatto and Jelena Gojkovic reached the championship match in the White draw. First the pair defeated UNC Asheville's Julia Caffarena and Keira Stewart, 6-3. Then on Saturday they defeated Kennesaw State's Ema Barianakova and Terezia Barianakova, 6-4 in the semifinals. In the championship match on Sunday Cosatto and Gojkovic dropped a 6-3 decision to Avery Sager and Louise Booker of UNC Asheville, 6-3.
The tournament wraps up the fall season for the Bears. Mercer's spring season starts Jan. 11 at Georgia Tech.
