Mercer Welcomes Chicago State To Macon On Sunday

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team hosts Chicago State Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Hawkins Arena for the Merrie Christmas Project game. Fans who bring a new pair of socks to donate to the Merrie Christmas Project receive free admission to the game. Fans can get their picture taken with Santa Claus before the game as well.

SERIES HISTORY Sunday's game will be just the 3rd all-time meeting between Mercer and Chicago State. Mercer has won each of the first two meetings including a 66-61 win over the Cougars last season in Chicago.

LAST TIME OUT
Tyler Johnson scored 26 points and Alex Holt matched his career high with 23 points to power Mercer past Stetson in overtime, 89-83 Sunday afternoon from Edmunds Center in DeLand, Florida.

It was a close game throughout most of the 40 minutes of regulation as the Bears and Hatters needed an extra five minutes to decide the outcome. Mercer outscored Stetson, 16-10 in overtime. The Bears went 4-for-7 from the field and 6-for-8 from the foul line in overtime to earn the win and move to 5-4 on the season.

NEED TO KNOW
Mercer has made at least 10 three-pointers in six of its nine games this season.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State enters Sunday's game searching for their first win of the season. Chicago State has played nine of their first 11 games away from home, including trips to play at Texas and Wisconsin.

The Cougars last played at St. Louis on December 8, falling 85-62. The Cougars are being outscored by an average of 24.4 points per game in their 11 losses. Chicago State is averaging just 60.4 points per game while allowing 84.7 points per game. Chicago State has also not been a very good rebounding team this season as they have a -11.9 rebounding margin this year. Chicago State has balanced scoring although no player is averaging double figures in scoring. Jalen Forrest leads the Cougar with 9.5 points per game.
