Moore Picks Up SoCon Student-Athlete Of The Week Honor

GREENVILLE, S.C. – As a testament to her work inside the classroom, as well as her efforts in the Mercer softball team's impressive 3-1 run through the Heart of Georgia Classic over the weekend, first baseman Kassidy Moore was crowned as the Southern Conference's Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, the league office announced.

Moore, a junior from Shreveport, La., hit .455 (5-for-11) while also registering a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.273 slugging percentage, as the Bears posted a pair of victories over Drexel, while also knocking off preseason Atlantic-10 favorite Dayton, across two days at Sikes Field. Moore registered a record-breaking night in Friday evening's win over the Dragons, tallying a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate with three home runs and nine RBI.

Moore's work has been just as noteworthy in the classroom where she currently maintains a 3.887 cumulative grade point average while pursuing her bachelor's degree in biology.

The Bears (3-1) will open the road portion of their 2024 schedule on Wednesday evening when they take on in-state rival Georgia State (2-3) at the Bob Heck Softball Complex. Mercer will be back at home again, Feb. 23-25, when they suit up to host the 3-day, 4-team Mercer Bear Invitational at Sikes Field.
