Bears Tied for 6th at Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD – Tobias Jonsson closed out day one in Hilton Head, South Carolina with a 2-under-par 68 to be tied in 4th place on the individual leaderboard and helped the Mercer men's golf team Tied for 6th place following round 1 and 2.

The Bears (-1) combined for a 20-over-par in the first and second round at the Wexford Plantation Course. Jonsson (E) is currently tied for fourth, but Jay Spivey (+6) carded a 4-over-par 76 in the second round before settling in a tie for 35th place. Trey Mixon, ended his second round off shooting a 1-over-par and after shooting six-over-par through the first 18 holes. Jonathan Parker and Jacob Uyesato are both tied for 54th after shooting 10-over-bar on day one.Â

South Carolina Aiken (-1) out-paced the rest of the 17-team field by 7 strokes, with Georgia State (+6) finishing at 7-over-par in round two. East Carolina (+12) and Samford (+12) are each six stroke behind Georgia State at the end of round two.

Mercer will be back in action tomorrow, February 20, as they continue to battle in the final day of the Weford Intercollegiate.
