
Mercer Finishes Weekend With 6-1 Win Over Florida A&M

MACON, Ga. - After a big win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, the Mercer women's tennis refused to have any let down on Sunday as they defeated Florida A&M, 6-1 from the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon.
Mercer won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles points. First, Mariella Minetti and Tea Zivic defeated Rebekkah Gaines and Susan Salinas, 6-1. Then, Marina de Diego Quinones and Teodora Ristic defeated Florida A&M's Sierra Sandy and Cristina Silva, 6-1. The last doubles match also finished 6-1 as Lea Falentin and Emilia Cosatto defeated the Rattlers' Genesis Whitelock and Sara Rakim.
In singles play, Mercer got a quick point when Florida A&M's Sierra Sandy had to retire from her match against Falentin after just one game in the opening set.
The first singles match to finish was the match between Tea Zivic and Florida A&M's Susan Salinas. Zivic was dominant in the first set winning 6-0, and then won the second set 6-3.
Mariella Minetti defeated Florida A&M's Genesis Whitelock, 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Bears with the score, 4-0. Emilia Cosatto won on court five over Cristina Silva of Florida A&M, 6-3, 6-3.
Teodora Ristic defeated the Rattlers' Rebekkah Gaines, 6-0, 6-4. Florida A&M was able to salvage a point in the last singles match as Sara Rakim defeated Marina de Diego Quinones in a competitive match, 7-5, 7-5.
