Bears Start ASUN Conference Play Against Detroit Mercy

MACON – The Mercer men's lacrosse program will travel to Detroit, Michigan to battle Detroit Mercy. The match between these two will open up ASUN Conference play for both programs.

SERIOUS HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the ninth meeting between these two programs. Detroit Mercy leads the series 5-3. However, the Bears took home the win last season defeating the Titans by a score of 16-12.

LAST TIME OUT
Head coach Ryan Danehy and the Bears are coming off a 10-6 loss to Le Moyne. Graduate midfielder Chase Cope led the Bears in scoring, finding the back of the net twice. However, a first quarter 4-0 run by the Dolphins would lead to 10-6 victory over the Bears on Sunday at Five Star Stadium.

Five different players scored goals for the Bears while senior Collin Kelley notched 12 saves between the pipes for MU.

SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
Detroit Mercy is led by Chris Kolon, who is entering his 10th season as head coach for the Titans. The Titans are currently 0-4 and were selected to finish eighth in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Titans have battled against Marquette, VMI, No. 14 Rutgers and Ohio State.

The Titan's current leading point scorer is graduate midfielder Luke Majick with nine points (7 goals, 2 assists). Behind Majick with 8 points (6 goals, 2 assist) is junior attackman Aiden Bishop. Behind Bishop is sophomore midfielder Drew Kessenich, who has 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists).
