Track & Field Squad Heads To Kennesaw State And South Carolina

MACON – The Mercer track & field team will continue its 2024 campaign on Friday and Saturday when the Bears split their squad to compete at the Kennesaw State-hosted Don McGarey Invitational, as well as the South Carolina-hosted Weems Baskin Invitational.

The sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers will be one of 25 teams competing at USC's Sheila and Morris Cregger Track facility. The Orange & Black will compete in three events – the Long Jump, Triple Jump and Javelin Throw – on Friday, and close out its stay in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday with competitions in the 100m and 400m Dash events, as well as the Shot Put and 400m Hurdles.

MU's distance runners are one of 18 squads entered to compete at Kennesaw State's Outdoor Track & Field Facility beginning on Friday with the 1500m and 5000m Runs. Saturday's schedule has the Bears taking part in the 800m Run and the 2000m Steeplechase.

Following competition this weekend in both Georgia and South Carolina, Mercer will continue its regular season slate next weekend when it heads to the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina, as well as the UAB Spring Invite in Birmingham, Ala.
