Bears 4th Quarter Run Falls Short To Jacksonville

MACON – Junior Midfielder Christian Laureano and graduate midfielder Chase Cope would lead the way for the Bears. Both Cope and Laureano would find the back of the net twice, however the Dolphins leave Macon with 8-7 win over the Bears.

Five different players scored goals for the Bears (2-6). Jackson Hirschy, Dillon Bush, and Zach Basisty each added a goal fir the Bears. Between the pipes Senior Colin Kelley notched 10 saves. After his third save, Kelley surpassed the century mark in saves this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It would take five minutes for the Dolphins to get on the board first, however Mercer's Christian Laureano would equalize the game three minutes later. The Dolphins were not done yet and scored two more goals before the end of the first.
The second quarter would see Jacksonville score in the first minute of the second quarter and the final minute of the second quarter. The Dolphin led at the half 5-1.
The Bears would win the third quarter scoring 3 goals to Jacksonville's 2. However, the Dolphins still lead 7-4 heading into the fourth quarter.
The bears started the fourth quarter off quickly scoring two back-to-back goals five minutes apart. Jackson Hirschy brought the Bears within one with four minutes remaining. The Dolphins increased their lead to 2 until Zach Basisty would find the back of the net following a Dolphin's penalty. The Dolphins would come away with a 8-7 win following a save from their goalie off a Chase Cope buzzer beater.

Jacksonville moves to 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in ASUN Conference Play.

The Bears will return to the field on Saturday, March 30 at 11 am when they travel to Moon Township, Pennsylvania to battle RMU and continue ASUN conference play.
