Track & Field Closes Out Regular Season At East Coast Relays

MACON – The Mercer track & field will close out the regular season portion of its 2024 schedule on Friday and Saturday when the Bears make the short trip to Jacksonville, Fla., to take part in the North Florida-hosted East Coast Relays.

Six student-athletes will disperse to compete in seven events at UNF's Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium. Junior Jiya Hastings and freshman Jayla Battle will open up competition for the Orange & Black as part of the Long Jump competition on Friday at 4 p.m. The Bears will close out opening-day action in the 400m Hurdles and 200m Dash at 6 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.

The 4x100m Relay team will kick off action for Mercer on Saturday at noon, while three individual events will follow and close out MU's stay in Jacksonville. Battle will compete in the Triple Jump at 1 p.m., MU will send a pair of Bears to the 400m Dash course at 2:10 p.m., and two Bears will run the 100m Dash at 3 p.m.

The weekend competition will mark the final regular season tuneup for Mercer who will head to Birmingham, Ala., May 4-7, for the Southern Conference Championships at the Samford Track/Soccer Complex.
