LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A phenomenal season at the plate continued to bear fruit for Tori Hedgecock on Saturday when the junior third baseman was among 38 student-athletes named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region Team, the organization announced.
Â
Hedgecock becomes just the fifth different player in the 39-year history of the program to pick up the esteemed award, and the first NFCA All-Region honoree since former outfielder Meghan Rud hauled in the award following the 2018 campaign. Hedgecock is also the first infielder in the history of the program to rake in such laurels.
Â
A native of Valdosta, Hedgecock led the SoCon in six offensive statistical categories, including pacing the league in home runs (19), RBI (53) and walks (47). A first team All-Southern Conference selection, she compiled a career-best .772 batting average, fueled by nine multiple-hit outings, while also amassing impressive .497 on-base and .583 slugging percentages. She ranks 11th and 15th, respectively, among NCAA Division I leaders in total home runs and home runs per game (0.36), while also boasting the nation's second-best walks per game (0.94).
