GREENSBORO, N.C. – Top-seeded Chattanooga put together a 5-run third inning to fuel an abbreviated 10-1 victory over Mercer in the morning winner's bracket matchup, and seventh-seeded Western Carolina used a 3-run fifth inning to pull away from the Bears for good on the way to a 10-2 win in Thursday evening's elimination game at the 2024 Southern Conference Tournament.
Â
The setbacks put the wraps on a 23-win season for the Bears (23-30), included in which was the most conference wins (11) for the program in six seasons, as well as the most home triumphs (14) for the Orange & Black since the 2019 campaign.
