Men’s Soccer Receives Team Academic Award

MACON - The Mercer men's soccer program has received the 2023-24 College Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced on Thursday. This marks the 16th year in a row that the Bears have received the award.

To qualify, a team must post a grade point average of 3.0 or higher over the academic year. The Bears posted a sterling 3.42 GPA in 2023-24 to earn the nomination. On top of the Team Award, Nick Wanzer and Sekou Agard were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees in November of 2023, and Wanzer also took home the 2023 SoCon Pinnacle Award, given to the student-athlete on the tournament winning team with the highest GPA.

The 2024 season is set to kick off later this month, as the defending SoCon champions take on fellow 2023 NCAA Tournament team UCF on August 22. The Bears' first home game at Betts Stadium comes on September 5 when they host Memphis.
