
Mäki-Tanila Finishes Tied For Fifth At Cardinal Cup

Mercer Finished In Sixth out of 15 teams
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Ella Mäki-Tanila shot a final round of 2-under, 70 on Sunday and finished in a tie for fifth place at the Cardinal Cup from Louisville Golf Club.
Mäki-Tanila finished the tournament at 2-over par, 218 in the 83-player field. She finished five shots back of champion Catie Craig from Western Kentucky who finished at 3-under par.
Mäki-Tanila did a great job of taking advantage of the par 5's as she went 2-under on them during the tournament, which was tied for third best in the field.
The Bears turned in their best 18-holes of the tournament on Sunday. As a team Mercer carded a 1-over, 289, which was 10 shots better than the second round when the Bears shot 11-over par. Mercer's round of 1-over par was tied for the second best round of the tournament. Only East Carolina had a better round all tournament as the Pirates carded a final round of even par on Sunday and finished in third place.
Mercer finished the tournament with a 25-over, 889. Middle Tennessee won the tournament at 16-over, 880. Mercer was one of the top five teams scoring wise on the par 3's, 4's, and 5's throughout the tournament. Only champions Middle Tennessee had more pars over the 54-holes than Mercer.
Four of Mercer's five golfers had their best round of the tournament on Sunday. Freshman Emilia Väistö and senior Katie Scheck each had top 20 finishes as Väistö finished tied for 13th at 6-over, 222 and Scheck finished one shot back of her and in a tie for 16th place at 7-over par.
