Robards Secures Top 10 Finish As Bears Wrap Up JT Poston Invitational

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Henry Robards collected his first career top-ten finish as the Bears wrapped up play at the JT Poston Invitational on Tuesday. Mercer tied for tenth place as a team.

Robards made five birdies on the back-nine of the his final round, finishing the day at an even 70. He also finished the tournament even, tying him at ninth on the individual leaderboard. The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native has been the Bears' top finisher in each of the first two tournaments of the fall.

Nathan Trodd and Ryan Curran each finished the tournament at ten-over and a tied for 46th on the individual leaderboard. Trodd shot a 75 on Tuesday, while Curran carded a 73.

Trey Mixon and J.T. Herman rounded out the Bears lineup by shooting 73 and 72 on the day, respectively.

Lipscomb secured a wire-to-wire team victory, finishing at 11-under for the tournament, eight strokes ahead of second place Kennesaw State.

Lipscomb's Alejandro Rodriguez took home the individual title, shooting 10-under across his three rounds.

The Bears are back on the tee box on October 7 for the Cullan Brown Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The tournament is hosted by the University of Kentucky and will be played at Lexington CC.
