
Softball Adds Flaherty, Harding To Coaching Staff

MACON – Mercer softball head coach Lindsay Fico announced a pair of notable additions to her coaching staff on Tuesday morning when former Florida State standouts Devyn Flaherty and Kalei Harding joined the Bears as assistant coaches.

Both Flaherty and Harding come to Middle Georgia with impeccable playing credentials after having led the Seminoles to a cumulative 224-54-1 (.805) clip, four NCAA Super Regionals appearances and two Women's College World Series berths over the last four-plus years.

"Devyn and Kalei will bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our program," Fico said. "Their experience will, no doubt, make an immediate and positive impact. We are extremely fortunate to have them representing Mercer."

A four-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, Flaherty played in 274 games (272 starts) and hit .321 (244-for-760) over her illustrious career to go along with 63 extra-base hits (16 HR), 110 RBI and 185 runs scored. The everyday second baseman was also 100-for-118 on stolen base attempts while with the Seminoles, and amassed 60 career multiple-hit and 17 multiple-RBI outings. She also scored two or more runs 35 times across her collegiate career.

A product of Riverview High School in Sarasota, Fla., Flaherty earned her bachelor's degree in sports management from FSU in 2023, and completed her graduate work in sports management in 2024. She was named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) following her senior campaign.

Harding, a native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and a graduate of Blackman High School, appeared in 251 games (246 starts) from 2021-24 and produced a .311 (236-for-758) batting average to complement 109 extra-base hits (46 HR), 208 RBI and 168 runs scored. An everyday outfielder for the Seminoles, Harding compiled a .584 career slugging and .385 on-base percentage (.969 OPS), while also drawing 102 walks as well. She racked up 63 multiple-hit and 56 multiple-RBI outings, while also tallying six multiple-home run performances.

A four-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree, Harding was also a two-time all-region pick at FSU as well. She was named to the All-ACC Tournament Team three times, including a most valuable player laurel in 2022. Harding earned her bachelor's degree in sports management at FSU in 2024.
