MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team travels to Rock Hill, South Carolina to play Winthrop Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside Winthrop Coliseum.

It will be the Bears' second road game of the season and second consecutive year in which Mercer will play Winthrop on the road.

LAST TIME OUT
Home-standing Mercer shot 57 percent from the field in both halves and used a 13-4 run right before halftime to pull away for good as the Bears won for the second time in five days with a 92-77 decision over Lipscomb last Sunday in Hawkins Arena.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 4th all-time meeting between Mercer and Winthrop. Winthrop has won two of the first three meetings including last season's meeting in Rock Hill where the Eagles won a high-scoring game 102-97.

SCOUTING WINTHROP
Last season, Winthrop went 23-11 overall and 11-5 in the Big South. The Eagles finished tied for second in the conference. Winthrop newcomer and senior guard Daylen Berry was named to the Big South Conference Preseason Second Team while the Eagles were voted fifth in the preseason coaches poll. Berry came to the Eagles after spending the 2024-25 season with Charleston Southern where he ranked 12th in the Big South in points per game (13.9), fourth in steals (1.7), and 10th in assists (2.8). He made a team-high 56 threes (1.8 per game), shooting 39 percent behind the arc. Berry scored in double-figures in 20 games. Saturday's game will be the home opener for the Eagles who are off to a 1-2 start on the season. Winthrop has nine new players on this year's roster with eight transfers and one freshman. Through the first three games of the season, Winthrop is averaging 79.0 points per game while allowing 80.7 points per game. The Eagles are shooting 38.8 percent from the field. Winthrop's leading scorer has been Daylen Berry who is averaging 20.0 points per game and scored a season high 23 points in Winthrop's season opening win over Queens.
