MACON – Thirty-one home contests, including 15 as part of three preseason home tournaments at Sikes Field, highlight the 53-game 2026 Mercer softball schedule that was released on Saturday evening by head coach Chris Kuhlmeyer.
Â
The regular season slate for the defending Southern Conference champions is also littered with seven contests against NCAA Power 4 opponents, a bulk of which will come as part of preseason tournaments at both NC State and UAB. The Bears are also scheduled to visit both Georgia and Georgia Tech near the midseason point.
Â
Mercer will lift the lid on its 40th season of intercollegiate softball, Feb. 6-8, when it welcomes Evansville, Maine and North Carolina A&T to Macon for the Heart of Georgia Classic. Army, Iowa and Western Kentucky will venture into Middle Georgia the following weekend (Feb. 13-15) for the first of two MUSB Invitational tournaments.
Â
The Bears will play their first midweek game of the season on February 18 when they lock horns with Georgia Southern at Sikes Field, and will open up the road portion of the regular season schedule, Feb. 20-22, at the UAB-hosted Green & Gold Classic. MU is scheduled to battle Ole Miss, Southern Illinois, Tennessee and UAB at that event in Birmingham, Ala.
Â
The lid will be snapped on the home portion of the preseason tournament schedule, Feb. 28-March 1, against Columbia, Presbyterian and Tennessee State at the second installment of the MUSB Invitational, and MU will close out the preseason tournament season altogether, March 6-8, against NC State, Michigan State and Stetson at the Raleigh (N.C.) Times Invitational.
Â
Mercer will host Bryant, March 13-14, in the first of eight scheduled weekend series. The Bears will dive into SoCon play, March 21-22, with a three-game home set against Samford, and will open up the road portion of their SoCon slate, April 3-4, at defending regular season champion Chattanooga.
Â
Chattanooga will also host the 2026 Southern Conference Tournament, May 6-9, at Frost Stadium.Â
