Okojie is one of 50 players named to the watchlist
Named in honor of Lou Henson, the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who appeared in 12 NCAA Tournaments and the 1989 NCAA Final Four with the Fighting Illini, the award is presented annually to the top play in mid-major college basketball.
Okojie, a Brampton, Ontario, Canada native, is one of 50 players in the country named to the watchlist. He is the only player from the Southern Conference named to the watchlist as well.
The recipient of the award is determined by a 10-member voting committee of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members from Collegeinsider.com. The winner will be announced in April at the 2026 NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis.
Okojie has played in 11 of Mercer's 12 games this season. He leads the Bears in scoring and ranks third in the SoCon at 17.9 points per game. He also leads the SoCon in assists with 5.3 assists per game.
Okojie has scored in double figures in all 11 games played this season and has scored at least 15 points in nine of his 11 games played. Okojie scored a career high 29 points in Mercer's win at Elon on Nov. 29.
Okojie and the Bears will conclude non-conference play at home on Dec. 28 against Baptist University of Florida. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Hawkins Arena.
