SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 43rd all-time meeting between Mercer and ETSU. ETSUÂ leads the all-time series, 29-13. The Bucs have won each of the last three meetings including a 70-68 win over the Bears on Jan. 8.
LAST TIME OUT
Tyler Johnson scored a game-high 22 points, but a strong second half from UNCG propelled the Spartans past Mercer, 78-61 on Saturday afternoon from Hawkins Arena.
After holding UNCG to just 26 points on 25.7 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, the Bears were unable to maintain that same effectiveness defensively in the second half ,as the Spartans doubled their point total from the first half by scoring 52 points in the second half to pull away for the win.
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer had a season high eight blocks in the first meeting against The Citadel. Alex Holt and Marcus Overstreet led the Bears with three blocks each.
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU enters Wednesday's game with an 17-12 record, including an 10-6 mark in conference play. The Buccaneers have been great at home this season where they are 12-3. ETSU is coming off a 73-68 win at Wofford last Saturday.Â
In conference play, ETSU ranks seventh in the SoCon in scoring at 70.4 points per game. They have been solid all year defensively as they allow the second fewest points per game in conference play at just 66.0 points per game.
The Bucs don't attempt many three-pointers as their 24.7 three-point attempts per game is fewest in the SoCon. They make 34.5 percent of their three's which ranks fifth in the league.
ETSU has the leading scorer in the SoCon in guard Quimari Peterson who averages 19.4 points per game. Forward Jaden Seymour is the fifth leading scorer in the SoCon at 16.5 points per game.
