Mercer Falls To Saint Joseph’s In Season Opener

MACON – Visiting Saint Joseph's broke open a scoreless game with two runs in the top of the 6th inning and rode Taylor Trowbridge's 2-hit shutout to a 2-0 victory over Mercer in the season opener for the Bears on Friday evening at Sikes Field.
The setback snapped a two-game win streak in season openers for the Bears (0-1) who finished the night with five baserunners, but also tallied a 0-for-8 clip with runners on the base paths. It was the second win of the day for Saint Joseph's (2-0) who registered a 5-2 win over Austin Peay earlier Saturday.
