
Mercer Welcomes Queens For Conference Opener

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team will return back to Five Star Stadium for just the second time this season to host Queens for the ASUN conference opener on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. for Alumni Weekend.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the third meeting between the Bears and the Royals with Mercer on top 2-0. The last time these two squads faced off they saw a triple overtime resulting in the Bears coming away with a 10-9 win on the Royals' home turf.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears fell to St. John's in a 20-16 heartbreaker on Saturday, March 15 at Belson Stadium. The Mercer offense put up a stellar performance recording 16 goals, six of them coming in the first quarter, but it was not enough to fight off the Red Storm.
Freshman Will Zylstra led the way for the Bears with six goals on the afternoon, a career high, and the most scored by a Bear in a single-game this season. Dillon Bush continued his scoring streak tallying five goals on the afternoon. The remaining goals came from Luke Fox, Jack Sullivan, Michael Frederick, Jackson Hirschy and Christopher Cappelmann. On the defensive side, Thomas Venzie picked up six groundballs and caused two turnovers. Between the pipes, senior goalkeeper Rand Paddack posted 14 saves against the Red Storm.
SCOUTING QUEENS
The Royals are led by Nik Colpitts who enters his second season at the helm for Queens. The Royals finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 2-11 and a 1-8 record in the ASUN. Queens currently sits with a record of 3-6 with 86 goals on 358 shots (.240) and 42 assists across nine games.
The Royals offense is led by Jack Royer who has 19 goals and nine assists on the season. Following closely behind is Carter Petersen with 15 goals and two assists. On the defensive side for the Royals, Jacob Schreck and Deacon Adams combined for 71 groundballs and 27 caused turnovers across nine games. The time between the pipes has been split by Nicky West and Dylan Axman who have recorded 59 and 44 saves, respecitvely.
