Mercer Drops Match At ETSU In SoCon Opener

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its SoCon opener at defending champion ETSU, 7-0 Monday afternoon from the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex
In doubles play, ETSU's Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres defeated Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg, 6-2. Then, Ralitsa Alexandrova and Ksenija Rage of ETSU defeated Kennedi Jones and Marie Bannmeyer, 6-2 to clinch the doubles point for the Bucs.
The last doubles match also finished 6-2 with ETSU's Jana Rovira and Julia Millan defeating Tea Zivic and Jelena Gojkovic.
In singles matches, Jana Rovira of ETSU defeated Bannmeyer, 6-0, 6-3. Over on court five, ETSU's Ralitsa Alexandrova defeated Lea von Kozierowski, 6-3, 6-0 to give ETSU a 3-0 lead.
On court six, Ksenija Rage clinched the match for ETSU by defeating Ines Hömberg, 6-3, 6-0. Daniela Rivera of ETSU defeated Marina de Diego Quinones, 6-1, 6-4 on court one.
On court two, ETSU's Alessandra Caceres defeated Tea Zivic, 6-2, 6-2. The last singles match to finish was on court four where ETSU's Julia Millan defeated Jelena Gojkovic, 6-2, 6-3.
Next up for Mercer is a non-conference match at home against East Carolina on Tuesday, March 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
