3/6/2025 5:50:00 PM | Softball
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – St. John's pushed across lone runs in the third and fourth innings, and then thwarted a 2-out comeback attempt by Mercer in the seventh, to slip by the Bears, 4-3, in the opening game for both teams at the Jacksonville-hosted Spring Break Challenge on Thursday afternoon.
The Bears (11-10) out-hit the Red Storm, 6-4, including a trio of singles from Hallie Langford, while Sietske Drijvers drove in a pair of runs on a 2-out single in the first. It was the seventh-straight win for St. John's (13-7-1) who has not tasted defeat since an extra-innings setback at Winthrop on February 22.
Katheryn Rearley (2-2) struck out four and allowed a trio of earned runs to saddle the loss for MU. Hannah Pitts struck out three across two hitless innings of relief, but was not awarded a decision.
