SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Mercer men's lacrosse dropped their final contest of the spring break trip to Le Moyne this afternoon. The Bears battled with the Dolphins throughout the first half until Le Moyne's offense started to pull away in the third quarter, resulting in a 10-7 loss for Mercer.

Dillon Bush once again led the offense for the Bears, keeping his scoring streak alive with two late goals on the afternoon. Dylan McKelvy made himself known on the field with a goal and two assists against the Dolphins. The other four goals came from Luke Fox, Michael Frederick, Ganon Cope and Kade McNeil. On the defensive side, Thomas Venzie picked up four groundballs and caused two turnovers. Between the pipes for the Bears, Rand Paddack posted nine saves on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bears attacked first after a goal from Luke Fox, assisted by Dylan McKelvy, came at the 12:37 mark. The Dolphins responded with two goals in a span of 40 seconds to take the lead in the first quarter.
Ganon Cope came out firing in the second quarter with a goal within the first minute but was shortly followed up by a Dolphins goal. Michael Frederick then found the back of the net at the 6:44 mark to put the Bears within one goal of the Dolphins. Three goals were scored in the final three minutes before the half, two by Le Moyne and one by Mercer's Kade McNeil to put the score at 6-4 heading into the third quarter.
Le Moyne struck first in the third quarter and was followed up with a goal from Dylan McKelvy at the 6:11 mark to put the Bears back within two scores. The Dolphins closed out the third quarter with two more goals, extending their lead by four heading into the final quarter of play.
Dillon Bush came to life in the fourth quarter, scoring two goals but it was not enough to catch up to the Dolphins resulting in a 10-7 loss for Mercer.

With this win, the Dolphins match their number of wins from the 2024 season.
